so we got lost...

Well I am finally in Prague. We spent two nights in London first, where they accidentally put me in a room with a boy so I got a single. We had a free drinks/get-to-know-people thing in the hotel and Aisling and I just grabbed some kid from Omaha to get Indian food with us. We then went to some pub and met other kids and walked back over the Tower of London bridge.

The next day we went on a bus tour where you were inside the whole time and occasionally got out to take pictures (not one of those open air double decker ones which I was expecting). We made friends with a grumpy boy from LA and a girl from NY who is probably Aisling and I's main friend on this trip. We went with her to the Tate modern art museum which was nice and then later that night we took a Jack the Ripper tour and got Thai. Since everything is terribly expensive there I didn't want to waste money on bad British food and just got things I knew were good.

Columns holding up invisible bridge.

On a bridge on the way to the Tate.

Westminster Abbey? Maybe?

Big Ben duh duh

Church church

I forget.

Munich was not a nice hotel like London but a hostel with 6 girls to a room which was fine because we were there for so little time. We went on a bus tour/walking tour, and then ate at some big beer hall place with people in traditional German clothes. My food wasn't bad considering I don't like German food, but I got so full so fast. The beer had lemonade in it and the apple streudel ruled. Befriended some Japanese businessmen. No big deal. Got a bit lost on the way home per usual.

Then there was a 5-6 hour bus ride to Prague with lunch at the Pilsner brewery in the middle and then we finally got here, settled in and had dinner at some Pisner pub near by. We have gone to meetings and orientations and gotten groceries and made a pasta and vegetable dinner with a couple kids and drank wine and ate chocolate. Last night we tried to see the Death Set at Club 007 (lol) which was supposed to be near by, but we got lost and gave up and got pizza.

This morning while everyone was in the morning language class (I have afternoon) I wandered around, got lost and drank coffee and read. I was happy to be alone for the first time in a while. I <3 my czech professor who will also be my government & politics professor and also like trying to pronounce stuff. "R" with the hook over it is super hard and the sound doesn't exist in any other western language.

As I was walking over a bridge back from class tonight I realized how beautiful everything everywhere is and how crazy it is. Pictures to come when I think I can handle a camera.

We had plans to go to a cafe tonight that playwright and former president of the Czech Republic, Vaclav Havel hung out at/was stalked by the secret police at. But, we got convinced to go to a place that was supposedly Thai but was in fact bad Vietnamese and then we went to a pizza place because the two kids didn't eat anything. Ace and I split a good sundae. We probably would've gotten lost on the way to the cafe anyway. Another time though because I love Vaclav Havel. All he cares about is being real.

for some reason in that photo aisling looks like she´s wearing a cowboy hat or something crazy, and it's just making me think of charlize theron's character in arrested development, which is just great. prague looks bomb, i SERIOUSLY need to get on uploading photos, and, you know, creating a blog. i've been here for a month already, seriously sad.
